Because of its superior characteristic in monitoring, observation, data taking, and data storage etc, AWS became the develop ing trend of surface weather observation and it would take the p lace of traditional manual observation. There is difference between AWS and manual observations inevitably due to their observationalways. The difference has a significant effect on continuity of historicalmeteorological data, atmosphere sciences research and weather forecast service. Based on temperature data from AWS and manual observation in 2003 and 2004 in L inxia weather station, the difference and homogeneity between AWS and manual observation were analyzed. Results show that the average difference ofmean daily temperature is - 0. 35 ℃, and the difference amp litude is 0. 22 - - 1.56 ℃; the difference amp litude of dailymaximum temperature is 0. 01 - 0. 31℃; the difference of daily minimum temperature is remarkable and unstable, and the amp litude in January toMarch is - 2. 12 - - 3. 05 ℃, in othermonths is 0. 05 - - 0. 57 ℃. The daily average temperature and dailyminimum temperature from AWS were upper than manual observations, and dailymaximum temperature was on the contrary. One group revised equations season by season were comp leted based on analysis about the difference between
two data series. The difference and its amp litude reduced by the equations revise.
